These bikes are called Mopeds because they can be either motor or pedal powered.  Light weight frames, pedal starting and two stroke gasoline engines are normal features.  Mopeds have long been used for daily transportation in Europe and Asia. Today, Mopeds are gaining popularity in the US. You will find them commuting in the cities or cruising the countryside.  Moped groups and clubs world wide are promoting shows, rides and events geared toward moped enthusiasts. You'll find many of them on the Internet, "check 'em out!"  Below are a few examples of the fun!

Cimatti

 Cimatti City Bike

This Cimatti City Bike is equipped with a reworked exhaust and air filter to improve performance.  This 'ped is a great ride with it's simple mods.

Puch

 Puch Moped

This is a beautiful example of a 1977 Puch Maxi.  Obviously lots of pride goes into owning this bike.  Very nice!

Honda

 Honda Hobbit

Here is a 1978 Honda Hobbit.  These came in 20mph and 30mph versions.  These are a lot of fun to ride!
